General Director
Gidrometallurgiya Research Center
Professor Shneerson graduated from the Leningrad Mining Institute in 1959, obtaining a diploma with a Distinction in Precious Metals. He began his career at Gipronickel, a research institute based in St Petersburg, where he remained for approximately the next 50 years. During this time he researched the breakdown of sulphides at high temperatures using autoclave technology.
Prof. Scheerson founded Gidrometallurgiya, a research and development centre, in 2008. From 2008 up to the present day the centre has been developing and testing technologies, namely high-temperature autoclave leaching, to process refractory ores from the Malomir and Pioneer gold deposits, which are part of the Petropavlovsk Group.
Prof. Shneerson is jointly accredited with the use of autoclave-hydrometallurgical technology on the processing of pyrrhotite concentrates. He has published more than 300 scientific papers and is accredited with more than 65 inventions and patents.
